Why did you join MPCES?
MPCES growth strategy and its cultural organization align with my goals and expectations. I confirmed this during two key moments: first, in discussions with Stefan Meichsner and later, with Fernando Zúñiga. That’s when I said, “this is the place”. Moreover, I felt that my experience and knowledge would be genuinely valued here.
What are your responsibilities?
My primary responsibility is overseeing construction activities. Currently, particularly focusing on Magdalena Solar Project (San Patricio).
How does your everyday work look like?
I am a morning person, so I dedicate mornings to focused work and strategic thinking. In the afternoons I normally attend meetings and calls and handle “mechanical” tasks. By the day’s end, I check e-mails, check the work done during the day and reconfirm the schedule of the next days.
I start and close every week checking that the tasks of that week are in line with the key objectives of San Patricio and in line with my personal strategy as Construction Director.
What is your background in sustainability?
During the past four years I was actively involved in sustainability, with strong emphasis on social and environmental issues. I particularly enjoyed when I managed a birds and bats fatality analysis and strategy for two wind farms.
What are your hobbies?
I have a passion for music, with a collection of over 700 CDs. For those Spanish-speaking audiences, I recommend Pez Luna and Guillermo Anderson (both from Honduras, my homeland), as well as Jorge Drexler (from Uruguay). For English-speaking listeners Andrew Bird, Wilco and Phish are among my favorite (though it’s worth noting my wife dislikes Phish’s music 😊).
I also love reading. What am I reading now? Team of Rivals.
If we talk about football, I proudly support Everton. Yes, I have suffered a lot during the last couple of seasons, but who hasn´t suffered in football?
Anything else you would like to share?
I am a “sureño” (a Southerner) from San Lorenzo, a small city in south Honduras.
I am a family guy. I try to spend as much time as I can with my wife Alejandra, my daughter Sara (8) and my son Daniel (5).
Claudio, thank you for this interview.
