Inside MPCES

Meet the Team - Interview with Annemei Olivier, Director IFRS

Why did you join MPCES?

I joined MPCES following my tenure at Deloitte Amsterdam, where I initially served in the auditing department before transitioning to the Accounting Advisory department. During this time, I had the privilege of collaborating on a project alongside MPCES, which offered me the chance to connect with several team members. As the project reached its conclusion, it seamlessly evolved into an appealing job prospect, prompting my decision to join the MPCES team. Witnessing MPCES's dedication to driving positive change in the energy landscape further confirmed my decision to be part of such a forward thinking organization.

Where do you work before you came to MPCES?

Accounting Advisory within Deloitte Amsterdam.

You are from South Africa – how did you get to Amsterdam?

Yes, I was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, and moved to the Netherlands in 2019. Inspired by my desire to explore new countries and cultures, I followed my husband, who relocated to the Netherlands for work. Professionally, I transitioned within the Big 4 firms, moving from PwC's Johannesburg office to Deloitte's Amsterdam office. This journey allowed me to combine personal adventure with career growth, enriching my life with diverse experiences.

What are your responsibilities at MPCES?

At MPCES, I specialize in IFRS-related tasks, with a primary focus on consolidation and reporting. This entails streamlining financial data across entities to ensure accurate reporting and adhering to IFRS standards. My responsibilities contribute to transparent communication of our financial performance to stakeholders and help the organization make informed decisions.

Is sustainability an important topic for you and if yes how?

Sustainability is undeniably an important and increasingly significant topic for me. As I continue to educate myself about its multifaceted dimensions,I am inspired to do more towards creating a more sustainable environment.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my involvement with MPCES is the gratification that stems from knowing that I am actively contributing to a cause larger than myself. Aligning my efforts with a company that places a primary emphasis on effecting positive change towards a more sustainable world amplifies my sense of purpose. It's inspiring to be part of an organization that not only recognizes the urgency of sustainable action but also actively strives to make a tangible difference.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies cover a range of things I love doing. I'm really into running, it keeps me in shape and clears my mind. Reading books is another favourite; I get lost in different stories and it's a great way to relax. Baking is a creative outlet for me, I enjoy experimenting with recipes and sharing the results with friends and family. Lastly, spending time with my friends and family is super important to me. Whether it's a simple get-together or a fun outing, being with the people I care about brings a lot of happiness to my life.

Anything else you would like to share?

Nothing, that’s all from me.

Annemei, thank you for this interview.
